Latest news Submissions success
Well done to all who get behind the huge effort to make a submission as
part of the consultation process on where a new regional sewage plant
will be located.
Fairshare distributed a large number of pre-written submissions. Bob
Dowling co-ordinated this, and in the end Hubert Higgins was able to
hand deliver 1,000 submissions to Fingal County Council offices last
Friday (June 24).
This was a fantastic effort, and we understand the RPS consultants were
taken aback to get so many submissions at the last minute.
In total, Fairshare made six separate submissions (including a technical
one, which was put together by a Fairshare supporter who does not want
his name used).
Many of the Fairshare submissions have questioned the legitimacy of the
submissions process - especially as misleading information has been put
out by Fingal Co Co and its agents. We feel strongly that the whole
submissions process has been undermined by this incorrect information.
Here is a list (and the date they were submitted) of the Fairshare
submissions:
04.15.11 - Email with Dec. 07 submission made as part of the Strategic
Environmental Assessment into the Greater Dublin Drainage Study.
31.05.11 - ASA (alternative site assessment) submission - why Protrane
should be excluded.
10.06.11 - Greaterdublindrainage.ie website update request (as Habitats
and Birds Directives had not been mentioned even though other directives
were).
15.06.11 - Consultation extension request.
23.06.11 - Letter to FCC manager David O'Connor questioning the
submissions process, and pointing out misleading information has been
issued. Also issued to TDs.
23.06.11 - Submission dated 24.06.11 (attached).
Next stage
Now that the submissions process has closed the consultants (Jacobs
Engineering, Tobin Consultants and RPS) will come up with six potential
sites for a regional sewage plant and an orbital sewer. This is expected
in September.
In the meantime, Fairshare will set about fine tuning the next stage of
our campaign. We now have some experts on board who are helping shape
this process.
We would ask anyone who put in a submission to send a copy of it on to
our TDs - James Reilly, Brendan Ryan, Clare Daly and Alan Farrell, and
also Senator Darragh O'Brien.
